Ruqyah Treatment & Guidance

Ruqyah Bath

A complete guide to preparing and using the Ruqyah bath as part of your treatment

The water does not heal you. The Sidr does not heal you. The recitation does not heal you by itself. Allah heals you. Everything else is a means, a sabab, that He has permitted and placed blessing in.

Approach the Ruqyah bath with certainty in Allah, not as a ritual.

Everything else is a means, a sabab, that Allah has permitted and placed blessing in.

A Bath Prepared With Quranic Recitation.

A Ruqyah bath is a bath in which the water has been prepared by reciting Quranic verses over it. The Quranic recitation, combined with blowing or dry spitting into the water, transfers the blessing and healing of the words of Allah into the water. When this water is poured over the entire body it addresses the physical dimension of spiritual affliction that Ruqyah recitation alone may not fully reach.

It is used alongside, never instead of, the daily Ruqyah recitation programme. The bath treats the outside. The recitation treats the inside. Both together produce the most complete treatment.

Ibn Al Qayyim

Ibn Al Qayyim in Zad Al Maad dedicates a section to the use of Ruqyah water in treatment and states that water over which Quranic verses have been recited carries the words of Allah into every part of the body that the affliction has reached, both internally through drinking and externally through washing.

Ibn Taymiyyah

Ibn Taymiyyah in Majmu Al Fatawa states that Sihr has both a spiritual and a physical dimension. The spiritual dimension is addressed through recitation and dua. The physical dimension is addressed through the Ruqyah bath and prophetic medicine. He says treating only one dimension while neglecting the other is incomplete treatment.

Sheikh Wahid Abdussalam Bali

Sheikh Wahid Abdussalam Bali in Sword Against Black Magic specifically prescribes the Ruqyah bath with Sidr as the established method for treating spiritual afflictions, citing the practice of the early scholars and the established properties of Sidr in prophetic medicine.

Statements Presented In The Treatment Guidance.

Prepare The Water Simply And Consistently

Take a five litre bottle of water and remove the lid completely.

If using Sidr leaves add a generous handful of crushed Sidr leaves directly into the water before reciting. Sidr leaves are available from Nature’s Oasis at www.naturesoasis.co.uk.

Sit facing the Qiblah if possible. Make your intention sincerely for Allah alone before beginning.

Recite the following directly over the opening of the bottle, each an odd number of times, three, five, or seven. After each passage blow or dry spit lightly into the water:

  • Surah Al Fatiha
  • Ayatul Kursi : Surah Al Baqarah verse 255
  • Last two verses of Surah Al Baqarah : verses 285 and 286
  • Surah Al Ikhlas
  • Surah Al Falaq
  • Surah An Nas

For suspected Sihr also add:

  • Surah Al Araf verses 117 to 122
  • Surah Yunus verses 79 to 82
  • Surah Taha verses 65 to 70

Replace the lid and shake the bottle well to combine everything fully. The water is now ready for use.

Relying On Others Instead Of Yourself

Many people jump from raqi to raqi looking for someone to fix them. The Prophet peace be upon him taught us to recite Ruqyah on ourselves. The most successful cases seen over many years of practice are usually people who became consistent with self Ruqyah and stopped depending on others. You have everything you need. Start using it.

Neglecting Salah While Focusing On Ruqyah

Some people listen to hours of Ruqyah audio every day while being careless with their five daily prayers. This is a fundamental error. The foundation is Tawheed, Salah, and obedience to Allah. Ruqyah is not a replacement for that foundation. It is built on top of it. Without Salah the treatment is significantly weakened.

Constantly Changing Your Routine

One day a different reciter. The next day a different method. Then a different treatment. Then starting again from scratch. This produces no results. Choose a programme and stay with it long enough to see what it does. Consistency with one approach is far more powerful than trying everything at once.

Becoming Obsessed With Symptoms

Every twitch, every dream, every headache becomes a sign. More time is spent analysing symptoms than reciting Quran. This leads to fear and waswas rather than healing. Recite. Trust Allah. And let Him do what only He can do.

Keep the routine simple and focused.

Begin With A Normal Shower

Begin with a normal shower using your regular soap and shampoo. Clean the body thoroughly before applying the Ruqyah water.

Fill A Bucket Or Basin

Fill a bucket or large basin with water at a comfortable temperature.

Add Ruqyah Water

Shake the Ruqyah water bottle well before use. Add approximately one pint, around 500 to 600 millilitres, into the bucket.

Pour Over The Entire Body

Pour the water over your entire body slowly and deliberately. Massage it thoroughly into your hair, scalp, face, neck, chest, back, arms, stomach, and legs. Every part of the body should receive the water including areas normally covered.

Make Dua

While applying the water make dua to Allah in your own words. Ask Him specifically for complete healing. Be specific about what you are experiencing. Allah hears and He responds.

Do Not Rush

Take your time and be fully present throughout.

Six Clear Steps

Treating The Water As If It Has Power

The most common mistake. The water is a means. Nothing more. The healing comes from Allah alone. Approaching the bath as a ritual without this understanding reduces its spiritual benefit significantly.

Doing One Bath And Expecting Everything To Disappear

Most people who benefit from Ruqyah baths are consistent with them over a period of time while remaining consistent with their daily Ruqyah programme. One bath is a beginning, not a cure.

Using The Bath Instead Of Daily Ruqyah

The bath supports the treatment. It does not replace the daily recitation, the adhkar, and the Salah which are the foundation of everything.

Overcomplicating The Preparation

Some people spend more time sourcing ingredients than reciting Quran. Keep it simple. Water and Sidr leaves are sufficient. The power is in the recitation, not the ingredients.

Keep The Bath Simple

Method

Prepare the Ruqyah water as described above. Add a generous handful of crushed Sidr leaves to the five litre bottle before reciting. Sidr has a specific documented role in treating Ayn in the classical Islamic medicine tradition.Perform the bath daily for five to seven consecutive days. Do not miss a day during this period.

Frequency

For active Ayn: daily for five to seven days. Then once weekly for maintenance. For general protection: once every two weeks is sufficient.

What To Expect

Days one to three: Some people feel immediate relief. Others feel temporary heaviness, unusual tiredness, or vivid dreams. Both are normal. Do not stop.Days four to seven: Most people begin to notice genuine improvement. Sleep becomes more restful. The heaviness after social interaction reduces. Energy begins to return. If symptoms persist after seven days, rest for one to two days then repeat the full five to seven day cycle. Some cases of Ayn require two or three complete cycles.

Drinking The Ruqyah Water

Drink a glass of the prepared Ruqyah water morning and evening throughout the treatment period. Internal and external application together produce the most complete treatment.Sidr leaves are available from Nature's Oasis.

Five To Seven Consecutive Days

A Supportive Treatment Alongside The Foundation

The Ruqyah bath is a supportive treatment for Sihr, not the primary treatment. The foundation remains consistent Quranic recitation, Ruqyah water consumed internally, Salah, adhkar, and Tawbah. The bath addresses the physical dimension of the affliction and supports the primary treatment.

Method

Prepare the Ruqyah water as described above, adding the Sihr specific verses over the water: Surah Al Araf verses 117 to 122, Surah Yunus verses 79 to 82, and Surah Taha verses 65 to 70. These are the verses specifically cited by Ibn Al Qayyim and Sheikh Wahid Abdussalam Bali for Sihr treatment.

Add a generous handful of crushed Sidr leaves. For Sihr Ibn Al Qayyim recommends using a larger amount of Sidr than for Ayn because Sihr typically penetrates deeper into the body.

Frequency

Twice weekly for the duration of the treatment programme. Ibn Al Qayyim states that Sihr treatment requires sustained and repeated application and that stopping early is one of the primary reasons people do not recover.

Minimum Treatment Period

Sheikh Wahid Abdussalam Bali states that 40 consecutive days of consistent treatment is the minimum period for established Sihr. Do not judge the treatment before this point.

Support The Wider Alongside The Foundation

The Ruqyah bath for Maas supports the wider treatment plan but should not be viewed as the main treatment. Regular recitation, daily adhkar, consistent Salah, and Surah Al Baqarah in the home remain far more important than the bath alone.

Ibn Taymiyyah said the person who maintains their prayers and adhkar gives jinn almost no foothold. The bath is one wall of the fortress. Salah and adhkar are the foundation.

Method

Prepare the Ruqyah water as described above. For Maas add Surah Al Jinn verses 1 to 9 to the recitation over the water. These verses describe jinn acknowledging the authority of the Quran and carry a specific power in Maas treatment cited by scholars of this field.

Add Sidr leaves. For Maas Sheikh Wahid Abdussalam Bali specifically mentions Sidr as having a unique repelling property against jinn unlike any other plant in Islamic tradition.

If available add a small amount of Zamzam water to the preparation. The Prophet peace be upon him said Zamzam water is for whatever it is drunk for.

Frequency

Twice weekly minimum. For severe or long standing Maas cases Ibn Al Qayyim recommends continuing the bath programme for 40 days minimum alongside the daily Ruqyah programme.

During The Bath

Pay particular attention to the areas where you feel sensation, movement, pressure, or fear. The head for intrusive thoughts and presence feelings. The chest for fear and constriction. The stomach for physical sensations and pain. Spend extra time massaging the Ruqyah water into these specific areas.

What To Expect

Strong reactions during the bath including increased emotional heaviness, physical sensations, or vivid dreams in the days following are all expected and are signs the treatment is working. Ibn Taymiyyah says stopping the treatment because of reactions is the most common mistake people make. Continue.
