"The best of your treatments is Hijamah."

— Sahih Bukhari (5696)

Hijamah is the Islamic practice of wet cupping therapy. It is one of the oldest and most established forms of prophetic medicine, confirmed in multiple authentic narrations from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

During a session, special suction cups are placed on specific points of the body and gentle suction is applied. Small, precise, microscopic incisions are then made, and the cups are reapplied to draw out impure stagnant blood. This blood, which carries toxins, inflammation, and blockages, is safely and hygienically removed from the body.

Once these physical blockages are cleared, fresh healthy blood flows freely to the affected areas, transferring oxygen and vital nutrients to where they are most needed.

Ibn Al Qayyim described Hijamah in his masterpiece Zad Al Maad as one of the greatest healing therapeutic systems of the prophetic tradition. He said it benefits the body in ways that no other single treatment achieves and that the early Muslims used it regularly as both prevention and cure.

What Hijamah Treats

Physical Conditions

  • Chronic back, neck, and shoulder muscle pain
  • Persistent tension headaches and intense migraines
  • Lethargy, chronic fatigue, and sluggish low energy
  • High blood pressure and poor localized circulation
  • Severe muscle tension and persistent joint stiffness
  • Digestive disturbances and inflammatory stress
  • Skin health maintenance & immune system support

Spiritual Affliction Symptoms

Important note: Hijamah does not remove Ayn (evil eye), Sihr (magic), or Maas (possession). The Quran and Allah alone remove spiritual affliction.

What Hijamah does is reduce the real physical symptoms that spiritual affliction leaves behind in the outer body—such as heavy shoulders, headaches, and dense chest tight spots.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself had Hijamah performed on his head when afflicted with Sihr (Sahih Bukhari 5763).

Sunnah Intent

An Act of Obedience & Worship

The Prophet ﷺ said: Indeed, there is healing in Hijamah. (Sahih Muslim 1577). He practiced it himself throughout his life and recommended it to his companions.

Every cupping session performed with the sincere intention of following the prophetic way is not just a high-quality physical session — it is a spiritual act of worship that brings reward in the hereafter.
